Crisis Response and Debriefing

In addition to her Expert Witness services, Dr. Armstrong provides on-site Crisis and Trauma Response services. The best predictor of an individual's potential to recover is their own pre-crisis functioning. The best climate for recovery comes from the perception of social support and responsiveness on the part of the workplace and employer. Dr. Armstrong's strong and empathic response is designed to provide support for employees at all levels.

For more than 7 years, Dr. Armstrong has intervened with employees who have been exposed to multiple types of trauma (robbery, on site accident and suicides, and shootings among others). The intent of this intervention is to assist the employee to feel supported by the employer and to help him or her pull on his or her internal resources in order to cope with the wholly unexpected event that has occurred in their workplace. The intent is to enhance and support the resilience of the organization and its employees (rather than to identify and treat impairments).

The intervention should occur within the first days and weeks after an incident. Management will be educated about the signs for further intervention, and have ongoing contact with Dr. Armstrong as necessary. Dr. Armstrong is available for Crisis and Trauma Response services throughout the nation, and internationally if indicated.
